Regulatory Update: PPACA Claims and Appeals Regulations Amended

The Departments of Health and Human Services, Labor, and the Treasury (collectively, the “Departments”) recently amended the previously issued interim final regulations governing the claims and appeals process requirements imposed by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“PPACA”). By way of background, the Departments issued the interim final regulations (the “regulations”) on July 23, 2010 to implement PPACA requirements with respect to benefit claims and appeals of denied claims.
