Maria is an experienced public interest attorney and serves as Winston & Strawn’s senior pro bono counsel, supporting the firm’s overall pro bono program. 

Maria is responsible for developing and placing appropriate pro bono opportunities, maintaining pro bono opportunity lists and resources for cases, assisting with public relations and marketing efforts, and responding to various pro bono administration demands.

Key Matters

Prior to joining Winston & Strawn, Maria worked for area pro bono agencies, including the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago and the National Immigrant Justice Center. Her experience focused on immigration law matters where she was responsible for supervising and mentoring paralegals, students, and pro bono attorneys. In addition, Maria developed and implemented a community partnership project with several community-based organizations throughout Chicago.

Maria received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan in 2001 and her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2005 where she served as associate editor of the Children’s Legal Rights Journal.
