Winston & Strawn Litigation Department Co-Chair Tom Melsheimer was featured in The Texas Lawbook where he discussed what he sees as the most important legal trends in Texas and his predictions regarding white collar prosecutions in 2025 under the new Trump Administration. 

Tom noted healthcare fraud as being “one, two, and three” in terms of most important subject matter under the new administration, adding that lawyers will likely see more criminal immigration prosecutions as well. 

“With the new administration, it is foolhardy to predict too much, given their stated desire to shake things up, whatever that means in practice. I do think there will be significant efforts to get certain ongoing prosecutions dismissed by defense lawyers seeking to take advantage of new U.S. attorneys in place. But I suspect healthcare fraud will remain a priority, as there isn’t much partisan division on the prosecution of such cases,” Tom said.
