Giving back to Fate, Texas—the small community where she has lived on her “ranchette” for the past 28 years—is a way of life for Martha. Beekeeping and local politics are simply the latest ways in which she pays her good fortune forward within Fate.
Within the Fate community, Martha has filled multiple volunteer roles ranging from being a Boy Scout leader to serving as a swim meet director while her children were growing up.
Most recently, she was elected to the Fate City Council in May of last year. After spending her weekends knocking on hundreds of doors to share her message of collaboration and community support, she was elected in a landslide.
Her commitment to her community is mirrored in her commitment to her colleagues, especially in the Dallas office, where she serves as Office Administrator. Everyone says they can count on Martha to get the job done and deliver results. Not surprisingly, she is also a frequent participant at Dallas Office Winston for Good events. “I’m focused on making sure everyone in Dallas has what they need to do their job and that everyone is happy,” said Martha.
While Martha enjoys serving on the Fate city council, her true passion is the bees. “I love the idea of supporting bees and maintaining a safe environment for them,” she explained. “Bees support our local ecosystem, our global food supply, and the health of our planet.”
According to Martha, one of the best perks of beekeeping is gifting honey from her hives to others. One of her hives is sponsored by Winston For Good and she distributes the honey from that hive to her Dallas colleagues—a sweet reminder of the impact that comes from caring for our communities.
