As Co-Chair of Winston’s Transactions Department, Tim has a proven track record of success in M&A and private equity deals. With clients ranging from private equity funds to strategic buyers, family funds, and individuals, he has handled numerous transactions including buyouts, divestitures, mergers and acquisitions, and capital-raising ventures.

Tim has a particular focus representing clients in transactions for the middle market, with industry-focused experience in health care, life sciences, education, financial services, and other sectors. Clients appreciate his ability to balance finding the quickest way to closing while protecting their long-term interests and goals. His experience on both the buy and sell side gives him keen insight into strategies that move deals past obstacles. 

In addition to his transactional experience, Tim has counseled clients on day-to-day corporate governance, contract, and entity formation matters. By seeing the full picture of their businesses, he helps his clients seize opportunities and drive their businesses forward.

Tim was recognized by The Legal 500 US as a “Next Generation Lawyer” (2019–2021); a “Next Generation Partner” (2022); and a “Key Lawyer” (2024) for M&A/Corporate and Commercial - M&A: Middle-Market and for M&A/Corporate and Commercial: Private Equity Buyouts.  He was also named by Lawdragon 500 as one of the “Leading Dealmakers in America” (2022–2025).

In 2020, Tim was named to Crain's “Notable Minorities in Accounting, Consulting & Law” list. He was also named to the “Lawyers of Color Power” 2020 List. He was shortlisted for the Euromoney Legal Media Group’s 2018 “Americas Rising Star” award in the “Best in Mergers & Acquisitions” category. Tim was also named to the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin’s “40 Attorneys Under 40 to Watch” list for 2015.

Tim serves on the firm’s Executive Committee, is Co-Chair of the Partner Compensation Committee, is the Chairman of the Foundation Committee, and is a member of the Opportunity & Inclusion Committee.

Tim is a board member of Legal Aid Chicago, College Possible Chicago, and The Francis Xavier Warde School.

He was selected by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) to participate in its 2015 Fellows Program. He joined a class of 202 high-potential attorneys from diverse backgrounds in conferences, training, peer-group projects, and interactions with LCLD’s top leadership throughout the year.

Tim received a B.A. in Political Science in 2002 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a J.D. in 2005 from Georgetown University Law Center.
