Samuel is an intellectual property litigator. He leverages his engineering industry experience to tackle complex issues across a broad range of technologies. Samuel has experience in all stages of district court litigation, including claim construction, fact and expert discovery, summary judgment, and trial. He also has experience with pre-suit diligence and inter partes review proceedings.

Before joining the firm, Samuel served as a law clerk to the Honorable Roy S. Payne of the Eastern District of Texas where he was involved in dozens of Markman hearings and facilitated five trials with three judges.

He also practiced at a boutique intellectual property firm where he prepared and prosecuted domestic and international patent applications in a variety of technical fields, including oil and gas, semiconductors, biomedical devices, power generation and storage, electronics, and computer software.

Before practicing law, Samuel worked as a field engineer for two multi-national companies.

  • Halliburton v. U.S. Well Services (W.D. Tex.) – represented USWS in patent infringement case against Halliburton involving hydraulic fracturing technology. Settled for favorable terms to USWS.
  • Flypsi, Inc. d/b/a Flyp v. Google LLC (W.D. Tex.) – represented Flyp in patent infringement case against Google involving mobile device technology. Jury awarded Flyp $12M for Google’s infringement.

Samuel earned his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2020, where he received the CALI Award for Trademark Law and was an editor for the Health Matrix: The Journal of Law-Medicine. He graduated with a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Colorado State University in 2014.
