Jara is a litigation associate whose practice includes a range of complex commercial litigation, including securities, and M&A-related litigation.
Jara’s practice focuses on securities litigation, stockholder demands (litigation and books and records), derivative litigation, de-SPAC litigation, as well as regulatory and internal investigations, with significant experience defending shareholder class actions. She has experience in federal and state courts, including New York State Court and Delaware Court of Chancery, and has completed multiple securities class action mediations and an international arbitration through the International Chamber of Commerce. She also has experience in various stages of litigation, from pre-complaint investigations through discovery and trial in federal court.
Jara maintains an active pro bono practice, recently securing a unanimous jury verdict of $112 million on behalf of a class of 670+ immigrants who were unlawfully detained by the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office. Her practice also includes Section 1983 civil rights litigation and redistricting litigation.
Prior to joining the firm, Jara was an extern to the Honorable Richard S. Berman in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. She also interned with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Division of Enforcement. While in law school, Jara was an Executive Notes & Comments Editor for the Brooklyn Journal of Corporate, Financial and Commercial Law.
Jara earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School in 2022. She received her B.A., magna cum laude, in Strategic Communication from The Ohio State University in 2018.
