Richard Weber Speaks at ACAMS Hollywood Conference

Winston & Strawn Partner Richard Weber spoke at the 2023 ACAMS Hollywood Conference, where he moderated the panel titled “AML Policies That Pay Off: Strengthening Anti-Bribery and Corruption Oversight.”

The panel highlighted recent corruption cases including the conviction of the former Venezuelan National Treasurer in Miami for her role in a multibillion-dollar bribery and money laundering scheme; how to identify typologies of bribery and related multi-national money laundering activities; how to analyze FinCEN’s kleptocracy/corruption advisory to adapt monitoring for red flags such as luxury goods purchases by foreign public officials and funds transfers via high-risk jurisdictions; and formalized ABAC risk management protocols such as outreach to law enforcement and NGOs, peer group data sharing, and prompt alert resolution and SAR filing as indicated.
