Maureen has been litigating complex intellectual property and commercial cases for over two decades. Her practice is concentrated on highly technical patent litigation as well as other intellectual property and complex commercial matters, including trade secret cases, fraud, and contract matters. Maureen has extensive practice in pharmaceutical-patent litigation, as well as regulatory issues involved in obtaining FDA approval for generic drugs and biosimilars. She also has extensive experience and knowledge in antitrust issues related to patent enforcement and settlement, including in the area of Hatch-Waxman litigation, as well as other intellectual property areas such as trade secret litigation.

Maureen has been lead trial counsel in several trials and has second-chaired dozens of federal and state-court bench and jury trials in patent cases, fraud cases, and other intellectual property and complex commercial litigation. She represents clients in a wide variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals as well as telecommunications, and electronics.

Maureen has experience in all aspects of litigation, from opening and closing arguments to direct and cross witness examinations to preparing cases for trial. She has particularly strong experience in handling expert testimony, having conducted direct and cross examinations of dozens of experts in highly technical areas and damages.

Maureen also has experience in counseling clients regarding FDA approval issues, preparing and responding to citizen petitions, preparing IPRs, and drafting and negotiating settlement and licensing agreements.

In addition to trial experience, Maureen has worked extensively on appellate matters, including working on and arguing Federal Circuit appeals, a Second Circuit appeal, and petitions for certiorari, as well as Seventh Circuit habeas appeals.

Maureen previously served as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard C. Tallman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Since 2017, Maureen has been recognized by IAM Patent 1000 as “a great courtroom trial lawyer” and “a rising star to keep your eye on.” In the most recent edition, IAM states that Maureen “shines in the realm of biosimilars and Hatch-Waxman litigations, demonstrating steadfast commitment to securing victories for her following.” She has been ranked in Chambers USA for Intellectual Property in Illinois since 2021 where clients report that she is “outstanding, intelligent and dedicated to her clients.” Maureen was also recognized by LMG Life Sciences for Hatch-Waxman patent litigation in 2019, 2021, and 2022.

In August 2024, Maureen was named as a finalist for the 2024 American Lawyer Industry Awards’ Best Mentor: Law Firm accolade.
