Hao’s practice focuses on representing financing parties and sponsors in a wide range of financing and acquisition transactions in the renewable energy and infrastructure sectors across the United States. She has advised lenders, tax equity investors, energy hedge providers, and sponsors in the development, acquisition and financing of many wind and solar projects across the country, as well as in connection with municipal waste and water projects.

She has also worked on back-leverage financings, construction and term loan financings, ITC and PTC bridge financings, residential solar financings, sale-leaseback transactions, inverted lease transactions, private placement financings, and tax equity partnership transactions for wind and solar projects.

Hao is fluent in Mandarin.

Hao was recognized by The Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch®, for Energy Law (2021–2024) and Corporate Law (2023–2024). She was listed as one of Lawdragon’s “500 Leading Energy Lawyers” for Renewable Energy (2024–2024). She was recognized by Who's Who Legal as a recommended global leader for Project Finance in 2024. She was recognized as a “key lawyer” in The Legal 500 US  in the areas of Energy – Alternative/Renewable Power (2023–2024) and Project Finance -  Energy and Power - Infrastructure and PPP (2023). She was a Fletcher Jones Foundation Fellow from 2000 through 2004.

Hao represented pro bono clients in guardianship and adoption cases and assisted pro bono clients in their naturalization applications.

Education

Hao received her B.A. and M.A. in English from Nankai University in 1996 and 1999. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Communications in 2005, and her J.D. in 2009 from the University of Southern California.
