The trucking industry is calling for the Environmental Protection Agency to come to a decision this year on Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions from heavy trucks. The EPA appears to be sending mixed messages, calling a rule both “a high priority” and a “long term” action without a deadline.
If the EPA doesn’t rule on this issue this calendar year, California’s NOx standard will take effect, meaning there will be two standards the industry must meet.
Winston & Strawn partner Jonathan Brightbill weighs in on where he sees the EPA’s priorities with regards to vehicle emissions, saying, “The EPA is moving forward…to revisit[ing] the prior administration’s passenger vehicle GHG rule.”
