New Houston Partners Eric Johnson and Michael Blankenship spoke with Law360 to discuss why they chose Winston & Strawn specifically when evaluating firms that would meet their needs. Eric and Michael explained the importance of joining a firm with a strong presence in Texas, as well as globally, and opportunities the firm would bring for their practice to grow in the energy industry.

In the article, Eric said that he wanted to join a firm with a significant presence in Texas. The firm also has a strong reputation in the energy industry, which Eric mentioned is yet another opportunity for growth that working at Winston will bring. Mike explained that Winston’s “global footprint” was also a large reason the two attorneys made the move to Winston. This global presence is important to Eric and Michael’s clients in Houston, within Texas, and on a much broader scale.

Eric explained to Law360, “From the legal, technical side, it was elite practitioners: breadth and depth,” he said. “And the other part was really just culture and vision. We feel like the Winston culture really fits well with Houston—and Texas in general—and the energy industry.”
