Winston Summer Associates Help Vacate Invalid Felony Convictions for 30 Individuals

Chicago Summer Associates helped 30 clients start the process of vacating and expunging invalid felony convictions from their records and gaining greater opportunities for employment, housing, parental rights, education, and public benefits.

Working in partnership with Cabrini Green Legal Aid, the Summer Associates prepared and filed motions to vacate 30 felony convictions for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, which are now invalid due to a change in law under People v. Aguilar. Five motions to vacate have now been granted by the Circuit Court of Cook County and more will be filed in the coming weeks.
