John focuses his practice on litigating product liability matters, mass torts cases, and other complex-commercial disputes, and has experience representing companies from the start of litigation through trial.

John is an associate with the firm’s product liability and mass torts group and one of the firm’s PRIDE associate liaisons. John represents various large companies in product liability and mass tort disputes in federal and state court, with clients including Monsanto, Abbott Laboratories, American International Group, and the Boy Scouts of America. John has experience in all aspects of litigation and has been part of multiple trial teams, including a team that won a unanimous defense verdict in the mass tort Roundup litigation and another team that secured a US$105 million plaintiff verdict against Ford Motor Company in a trade secret misappropriation and breach of contract case.

John also has experience in various complex commercial litigation matters, involving breach of contract, trade secret, civil RICO, fraud, and patent infringement claims, where he has represented private equity firms such as Hughes & Company LLP, insurance carriers such as State Farm and Travelers Insurance, and technology companies such as Outcome Health and Comcast.  John also has an active pro bono practice, securing favorable settlements in several 1983 cases and an injunction against the Department of Defense for excluding service members living with HIV, as well as representing LGBTQ+ individuals in military discharge upgrade petitions and in civil litigation based on mass-homophobic chant that occurred during a soccer match at Soldier Field.

Prior to joining Winston, John served as a judicial extern with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois for the Honorable John R.
