Michael focuses his practice on financial services litigation in New York and New Jersey state and federal courts. He has significant litigation experience across a broad spectrum of real estate, financial services, commercial, and bankruptcy matters.

Michael’s experience includes consumer finance litigation, bankruptcy litigation, and real estate litigation matters. He has served as lead counsel to defend financial institutions in suits brought under various state and federal consumer protection laws, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Michael has also successfully litigated contested bankruptcy matters involving secured and unsecured creditors in Chapter 7, Chapter 13, and Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

Prior to joining the firm, Michael was an associate at a boutique commercial litigation firm, focusing on real estate and financial services litigation. Michael also spent several years at a large international law firm, representing banks and secured creditors in complex commercial litigation matters.

On a pro bono basis, Michael has successfully represented victims of domestic violence in court proceedings to obtain orders of protection.

Education

Michael received his J.D. in 2006 from Rutgers University School of Law-Newark, where he served as managing editor of the Rutgers Law Review. He received his B.S. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1987, and his M.B.A. from Drexel University in 1994.
