Winston & Strawn sponsored Sport Resolutions Annual Conference 2017, held on May 4 in London. In its third year, the conference brought together sport and law professionals to debate issues that create conflict and disputes in sport. Themes for 2017 included equality in sport, anti-doping, and athlete transition. Winston served as the naming rights sponsor of the event.

Sports Law Practice Co-chair Jeffrey Kessler stated: “Winston is proud to sponsor this flagship event in partnership with Sport Resolutions. Our team has a long history of forging strong relationships with athletes, associations, and many other participants in the sports landscape through, among other activities, our involvement in many landmark sports industry cases.” Jeffrey spoke during the “Gender and the Level Playing Field” session.

Peter Crowther, Winston’s London office managing partner, said the sponsorship aligned with the firm’s commitment to supporting the discussion and understanding of what causes disputes in the sports arena. He added that “the conference provides an excellent opportunity for sports and law professionals to consider alternative perspectives on the causes of disputes and, moreover, what role both can play to prevent these issues from affecting the field of play.”
