Winston Represents D.C. Frozen Custard Food Truck Pro Bono

Winston & Strawn Washington, D.C., office managing partner Tom Buchanan was featured in the Washington Post article “A Lawyer for Sundaes, Floats, and Frozen Custard,” published July 27, 2014.

After Mr. Buchanan read an article about Goodies, a popular food truck serving frozen custard, he tracked it down and met the owner, Brandon Byrd. At the time, Mr. Byrd was handling the legal demands of the new business on his own, but Mr. Buchanan offered for Winston to handle Goodies’ legal work on a pro bono basis.

In addition to Winston attorney J.C. Masullo becoming a legal adviser, Mr. Buchanan acts as an advocate and informal business consultant for Goodies, hiring them to cater firm events and introducing Mr. Byrd to a local restaurateur with the goal of expanding Goodies’ presence to ballparks.

“We’re out to help him succeed,” Mr. Buchanan said.
