Nearly fifteen years after divorcing her husband, our client will finally receive the spousal support her ex-husband refused to pay, thanks to a team of dedicated lawyers in Winston’s Miami office.

After fending off the ex-husband’s frivolous motion to contest the original divorce judgment, the Winston team negotiated an extremely favorable settlement agreement, which included a $200,000 lump sum payment. In addition, our client will receive, directly from the Social Security Administration, her ex-husband’s full monthly payment of approximately $2,600 for the next 120 months.

“Our client is beyond ecstatic. She thought she would never see another dime from her ex-spouse. It is very gratifying to be able to help her obtain the justice and financial support she deserved,” said Miami Partner Craig Rasile.

Winston took this case in July of 2023 to help our client enforce a 2022 Supreme Court of New York Sequence Decision and Order holding her ex-spouse in contempt and ordering him to make good on the terms of their 2011 divorce settlement. He had moved to Florida to escape his obligations, but Winston attorneys domesticated the divorce judgment and the arrest warrant by the New York courts, which forced him to negotiate.

The Winston team was led by Craig Rasile and Megan Casserlie and included Jared Kessler and Camila Machado.
