Rosenthal Profiled in Law360

Litigation partner John Rosenthal, based in Winston & Strawn's Washington, D.C. office, was profiled in the September 19, 2011 edition of Law360. In the Q&A, Mr. Rosenthal, who serves as chairman of the firm's e-discovery and electronic information practice group, discusses how the e-discovery rules are in need of reform. He explains that the increase in volume of electronically stored information subject to preservation, collection, processing, review and production, and the pace at which it continues to grow, has led to the need for updated rules. "The need for updated rules is necessary and will bring some proportionality back into the system and move us back toward actually trying cases." He also explains that the problem is compounded by the movement to the cloud, the advent of mobile technologies (smartphones, tablets, etc) and the increased use of various forms of social media.
