Winston & Strawn Recovery Threat Scenario Webinar Series

As companies continue to grapple with the impact of the pandemic on their revenue and growth strategies, they must also manage a host of legal and regulatory issues, from force majeure disputes to ensuring the health and safety of employees while managing privacy concerns and data security.

To help corporate legal and HR teams think through strategies to address these and other challenges, Winston is presenting a series of 60-minute webinars that each analyze a complex real-world threat scenario tailored to today’s COVID recovery environment. Each webinar will review specific legal options, challenges, and best practices presented as the scenario unfolds.

Program 2 – Jury Selection in Pandemic Times: What Jury Research Shows

As court systems gradually reopen across the country, and the backlog of jury trials loosens, understanding how juror views have changed during the pandemic will be critically important to trial lawyers and clients. The disruption caused by the pandemic has dramatically altered how jurors think about issues like government oversight, personal and corporate responsibility, risk, fairness and other concepts central to juror deliberations and rendering a verdict.

Steve D’Amore and Sandra Edwards from Winston, and Dr. Dan Wolfe, Dr. Rachel York and moderators Joan Jackson and Lee Diamondstein from jury consultant Magna Legal Services, hosted a presentation of new research on changed juror attitudes across the country in the time of the pandemic. Panelists discussed the practical impact of this research on jury selection strategies, with a particular emphasis on cases involving financial services, technology and life sciences companies.
