March 24, 2017
Sports Law Practice Co-chair Jeffrey Kessler spoke at the Annual Fordham Sports Law Forum Symposium on March 24. Now in its twenty-first year, this annual event brings together top attorneys in sports law for a discussion of legal issues of importance to the sports industry. Jeffrey spoke on the “Antitrust Litigation Against the Compensation Restrictions of the NCAA for Division I Football and Basketball Players” panel.
Attorneys and general counsel of professional sports teams spoke on various panels that addressed the following topics:
- Recent collective bargaining agreements in professional sports
- Pay-for-play for college athletes
- A regulatory regime for sports gambling
Jeffrey is one of the most prominent lawyers in the country regularly engaged in high-profile sports litigation. He has litigated some of the most famous sports-antitrust cases in history, including McNeil v. the NFL, the landmark antitrust jury trial which led to the establishment of free agency in the National Football League (NFL), and Brady v. NFL, which led to the end of the 2011 NFL lockout.
