Blog
February 3, 2017
The University of Michigan Law School’s 2017 1L Oral Advocacy Competition officially began on January 18 with a panel discussion presented by Winston litigation attorneys.
Linda Coberly*, Chicago office managing partner, and Bill O’Neil, Chicago partner and Hiring Committee co-chair, provided oral advocacy tips and tricks during the lunch-time presentation.
As a sponsor of the 1L Oral Advocacy Competition, Winston attorneys are participating in various training opportunities throughout the competition:
- On January 30, Chicago partner Sam Lerner* and associate Sean Suber hosted a videoconference for the Michigan 2Ls and 3Ls who will be judging the competition.
- On February 21, Chicago associates Jason Pesick*, Karalena Guerrieri*, and Laura Greenspan attended the quarterfinal mooting round.
- On March 20, Linda Coberly will judge the final round of competition.
We are excited to once again be participating in this competition, which provides 1L students with an introduction into moot court, and look forward to helping the students learn about courtroom advocacy and sharpen their public speaking skills.
