The firm honored its 2015 Chicago office “Mentor of the Year” award winners during a luncheon reception on January 14. The office currently runs two mentoring programs: the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism Lawyer-to-Lawyer Program for first-year associates and our traditional Mentoring Program for second- and third-year associates.

Partner Julia Johnson won “Mentor of the Year” in the Lawyer-to-Lawyer category for her work with her associate mentee Loren Rene. Partner Catherine Joyce won “Mentor of the Year” in the second and third year category for her work with her associate mentee.

The firm’s formal mentoring program is designed to guide associates through their careers at Winston and incorporates a discussion of diversity and inclusion issues. Additional Chicago attorneys honored as runners up for the 2015 “Mentor of the Year” awards are:

  • Lawyer-to-Lawyer: Partner Linda Coberly (nominated by mentee Erin Solomon) and Partner Oscar David (nominated by mentee Kyle Lennox).
  • Second and Third Year: Associate Sara Chubb (nominated by mentee Mary Katherine Schweihs)

Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism Chair Deb Walker and Program Coordinator Brittany Wisniewski also attended the January 14 reception, which served to spotlight Winston’s outstanding mentors who have consistently provided access, insight, and practical advice to the firm’s young lawyers.

This entry has been created for information and planning purposes. It is not intended to be, nor should it be substituted for, legal advice, which turns on specific facts.
