Winston & Strawn partner Kimball Anderson was profiled in the November 11, 2014, issue of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. The article, “Attorney makes second trek up Everest, raises funds for CGLA,” explains that Mr. Anderson — a trial lawyer who handles patent and trademark infringement, class actions, antitrust and other matters — recently completed his second hike of Mount Everest.

Mr. Anderson, a member of the Cabrini Green Legal Aid (CGLA) advisory board and chair of its 40th anniversary capital campaign, used the trip as an opportunity to help raise money for CGLA. The organization’s executive director told the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin that Mr. Anderson raised $2,700 through his trip. Combined with other activities, he has individually raised nearly $150,000 toward the $1 million campaign goal this year.

In addition to carrying the CGLA flag to the Everest base camp, Mr. Anderson also brought flags from The Chicago Bar Foundation and the Attorneys’ Liability Assurance Society on his trip.

Mr. Anderson, along with his wife Karen Gatsis Anderson and other members of the group, walked between 9 and 12 miles a day. In addition to the climbing experience, the other value was the cultural experience. “This trek provided the time and the opportunities to interface with the Sherpa families, the communities, the Buddhist monasteries. You get to learn about the history and culture of the area,” he said.
