As part of Winston & Strawn’s celebration of Women’s History Month, trailblazer, author, and former Wall Street Journal careers columnist, Joann S. Lublin provided insider tips on how to manage a career and parenthood.

Lublin’s advice drew upon interviews with 86 executive mothers - spanning three generations - that she conducted while writing her latest book, Power Moms: How Executive Mothers Navigate Work and Life.

A former working mother herself, Lublin provided these practical and actionable suggestions:

  • Let your children know you enjoy your job and that doesn't diminish how important they are in your life.
  • Schedule home deliveries and workers during your pre-Covid commute time if you are working remotely.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask for help and accept that you are human and imperfect.
  • Set aside protected time with your children where they are your only focus.

This presentation was sponsored by the Diversity & Inclusion Committee and our Women’s Leadership Initiative. Learn more about Winston & Strawn’s diversity initiatives here.
