Matt is the Chair of Winston’s globally recognized M&A practice. He is a veteran M&A attorney who represents both public companies and private equity clients on a wide range of strategic M&A transactions, investments, and other corporate matters, both in the U.S. and internationally.

Matt advises clients with respect to a wide variety of corporate transactions, particularly focusing on M&A and private equity transactions, and has significant cross-border experience throughout the world. He also regularly advises publicly and privately held companies with respect to corporate governance and board-related matters.

His public company and strategic clients include Chart Industries, Amphenol Corporation, POET, LLC, Citadel, Illinois Tool Works, and TreeHouse Foods, among others.  His private equity clients include CORE Industrial Partners, Equity Group Investments, JLL Partners, Pritzker Private Capital, Water Street Healthcare Partners, Maxwell Street Capital Partners, and Griffin’s Wharf Partners, among others (and including their portfolio companies).

Prior to joining the firm, Matt led the M&A legal function globally for a large international public company with a robust transactional pipeline (and was at another large international law firm prior to that experience). He also previously served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy.

Matt received a B.A., magna cum laude, in 2001 from the University of Notre Dame, and a J.D., cum laude, in 2008 from Boston College Law School, where he served on the Boston College Law Review and was inducted into the Order of the Coif.
