Winston & Strawn Paris Signs Agreement in Support of Military Reserve Policy
February 11, 2015
Winston & Strawn has signed an agreement in support of France’s military reserve policy. Winston is the first international law firm to sign such an agreement.
This partnership aims at creating and maintaining a relationship between companies, armed forces, and reservists. Through this agreement, the firm affirms its support to the military reserve forces by developing joint relationships and shows its gratitude for the civic spirit of the reservists.
Paris Office Managing Partner Gilles Bigot is a member of the military reserve forces: Reserve Commander (Capitaine de frégate de réserve).
This agreement acknowledges Winston’s role in the defense sector. For more than fifteen years, the firm has advised French groups and the State in connection with various large-scale missions, and has assisted clients operating in the defense sector for counseling, as well as litigation matters and regulatory issues. Messrs. Bigot and Riché regularly assist the “Centre Interarmées de Concepts, de Doctrines et d'Expérimentations” (Joint Forces Centre for Concept Development, Doctrine and Experimentation) as members of the “High-level reserve forces” group, for the “studies, overview and general management” division. Both have also been appointed members of Alidade groups, under the aegis of the CESM (Centre d’Enseignement Stratégique de la Marine – Strategic Studies Centre of the Navy), focusing on piracy and the sea, navy, and sustainable development. Moreover, Mr. Bigot advises the IGAM (Inspection Générale des Armées-Mer – General Inspectorate of Military-Navy) on legal requests.
By signing this agreement in support of the military reserve policy, Winston displays its commitment to reservists developing team spirit, a sense of responsibility, a taste for initiative, discipline, loyalty, and positive reactivity in crisis management.
