Tom Melsheimer Shares White Collar Defense Insights at Texas Lawbook Roundtable

Winston & Strawn Litigation Partner Tom Melsheimer spoke at “Bad Case/Good Outcome: Defending (and Winning) When the Government Comes for Your Client,” a roundtable event hosted by The Texas Lawbook on February 27, 2023. The Honorable Ada Brown of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas moderated this discussion between Tom and co-presenter David Gerger, partner at Gerger Hennessy Martin. They explored behind-the-scenes insights on the challenges of trying a white collar case that is high-profile because of the subject matter, the defendant, and the implications of the case itself for the Department of Justice.

Tom shared insights as the lead defense architect in United States v. DaVita, Inc., the first criminal trial alleging an illegal antitrust conspiracy arising out of a “non-solicitation” agreement between health care companies which ended in a rare individual acquittal.
