NALP Foundation Names Bill O’Neil as the Next Chair-Elect of the Board of Trustees

The NALP Foundation has named Winston & Strawn Partner Bill O’Neil as the next Chair-Elect of the Board of Trustees for a one-year term. He will become Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees in July 2022 and has served as a member of the NALP Foundation Board of Trustees since September 2019.
The mission of the NALP Foundation for Law Career Research and Education is to improve the quality and delivery of legal services by advancing:
- excellence in strategic and practical organizational leadership;
- effective management of legal personnel;
- professional development of lawyers;
- access to and diversity within the profession; and
- ethical practices and professionalism.
“We are thrilled to elevate Bill O’Neil to Chair-Elect of the NALP Foundation,” said Howard L. Ellin, the current Chair of the Board of Trustees. “Bill has been an active member for several years and tremendously supportive of our organization’s mission to provide affordable and objective research and resources for the legal profession.”
In response to his appointment, Bill noted: “I am honored to continue the work of my distinguished predecessors at the Foundation. Their legacy is inspiring, and I am excited about the future of the Foundation and its important place at the intersection of legal talent management and research.”
A partner in Winston’s Litigation Department, Bill focuses his practice on trials and arbitrations with a specific emphasis on post-closing M&A and other complex business disputes. Notably, he serves as Chair of Winston’s Hiring Committee where he oversees Winston’s associate hiring on a firmwide basis. He also serves as a member of Winston’s Diversity Committee. Having spent his entire career at Winston, Bill is deeply committed to fulfilling the firm’s strategic vision while celebrating its rich history. He is particularly focused on issues surrounding associate morale, retention, and hiring.
