Linda Coberly Profiled in Chicago Lawyer
August 2017
Chicago Office Managing Partner Linda Coberly was featured on the cover of the August 2017 issue of Chicago Lawyer Magazine and in an article entitled “Keeping the Plates Spinning.” The article shares tips and insights from six Chicago-area managing partners on how to stay balanced while managing a large law firm and an active practice.
In the article, Linda discusses trends in the legal marketplace and the potential long-term change in demand, particularly as some clients take work in house. She points out that it is an increasingly competitive market, in terms of both clients and talent. “We still see a significant demand for large-scale litigation—big ticket, bet-the-company cases—which have been critical to Winston & Strawn for a long time,” she said.
When asked about promoting pro bono initiatives and civic engagement at the firm, Linda expresses her pride in Winston’s participation in The Chicago Bar Foundation’s Investing in Justice Campaign. “We had significant participation from non-lawyer staff, which I found really gratifying because it told me that our staff feels connected with the firm. They’re proud of the firm, they’re proud of being part of the firm and they’re proud of the work we’re doing together,” she noted.
