Linda Coberly Discusses the Equal Rights Amendment on Princeton Alumni Weekly’s Podcast
October 18, 2019
The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) has a long history and continues to be a topic of discussion today. First introduced to Congress in 1923, the ERA failed to garner support until the late 60s when it was reintroduced to Congress in 1972. Only 35 of the necessary 38 states ratified it before the deadline passed in 1982.
In 2017, Nevada became the first state to ratify the ERA after the deadline, with Illinois following in 2018. Winston & Strawn continues to be a champion for equal rights for women and was the first law firm to serve as a “Lead Organization” for the ERA Coalition. Winston & Strawn also provides counsel to numerous individuals and organizations that are seeking equality.
Winston & Strawn Partner and Chair of the National Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) Coalition’s Legal Task Force Linda Coberly offers her insights on Princeton Alumni Weekly’s Podcast. Listen to the full episode here.
