International Paper Success – Winston & Strawn Obtains Unanimous Federal Jury Verdict in Favor of International Paper in Novel Vacation Claims
December 12, 2014
In consolidated cases of first impression, entitled Farris v. International Paper, Case No. EDCV13-0485-CAS, and Andresen et al v. International Paper, Case No. CV13-2079-CAS, in the Central District of California, four Plaintiffs (including 3 former commissioned sales reps and 1 former executive) alleged entitlement to thousands of hours of unused vacation time allegedly accrued over 30 - 40 years. International Paper vehemently denied that any of the Plaintiffs were entitled to paid vacation. After a two week trial, on Friday, December 12, 2014, International Paper was entirely vindicated as eight federal jurors issued a unanimous verdict in favor of International Paper regarding all of the Plaintiffs' vacation claims.
The case was tried by Winston & Strawn Los Angeles attorney Marcus A. Torrano, along with the trial team, including Linda T. Coberly and Jason S. Campbell.
