On October 19, Winston & Strawn Partner and International Trade Practice Chair Cari Stinebower moderated a webinar titled “Environmental Enforcement Outlook in China for U.S. Companies.”
The online event featured a panel of lawyers and academics—including Winston & Strawn Partner Jonathan Brightbill and Yuanda Partner Leon Liu—and covered key distinctions between U.S. and Chinese environmental law and regulation, examined the latest changes to Chinese environmental laws and enforcement practices, addressed developments in both prosecutor (government)-leg Environmental Public Interest Litigation (EPIL), as well as “punitive damages” obtained by Non-Governmental Organizations in China, and discussed the implications for multinational companies, including ESG obligations and compliance requirements.
