College Athlete NIL: The First 6 Months
February 16, 2022
On February 16, 2022, Winston & Strawn Partner Jeanifer Parsigian and Associate Adam Dale spoke at the ABA Antitrust Section’s discussion about name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights for college athletes.
The first six months of the new NCAA regime of permitting athletes to be compensated for their names, images, and likenesses has generated both an explosion of deals and a web of complex (and often conflicting) state laws and school policies. This panel looked back at the first six months of the new NCAA era and discussed the practical and legal effects of the new rules on female athletes.
Adam moderated the panel, which featured Jeanifer, along with speakers Kristi Dosh of Business of College Sports, Christine Plonsky of the University of Texas, and Grace Lange, former women’s basketball player and current student at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School.
