Maritime & Admiralty Practice Chair Charlie Papavizas moderated a panel at the Offshore Wind Finance Forum hosted by the Business Network for Offshore Wind and Société Générale on April 3 in New York.
The panel, titled “Equity Investments in the Offshore Wind (OSW) Sector,” examined investment opportunities during development, construction, and operation. Panelists explored the following questions:
- Development Stage equity – What role can institutional investors play in partnering with developers? How early are investors willing and able to invest? Do developers need the Project to have a lease? An off take agreement?
- FID Equity – How do offshore wind projects investment opportunities align with hurdle rates and risk pro les of traditional infrastructure fund investors? Are investors willing to commit prior to FID?
- Other Opportunities?
- What are the largest challenges the regional industry faces investing in the region?
Based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, Charlie frequently consults on the application of U.S. coastwise laws (Jones Act) to cargo, passenger, and vessel movements and investments in U.S. companies. He has extensive experience in advocacy on behalf of maritime clients before various federal agencies, including the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Maritime Administration, and the U.S. Congress.
