DTCC Partners with Digital Asset to Tokenize DTC-Custodied U.S. Treasury Securities

On December 17, 2025, the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) announced a partnership with Digital Asset Holdings (Digital Asset), a developer of distributed ledger technology, to tokenize a subset of U.S. Treasury securities custodied at its subsidiary, the Depository Trust Company (DTC), using Digital Asset’s Canton Network. This announcement follows DTC’s receipt of a No-Action Letter from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on December 11, 2025, providing no-action relief allowing DTC to offer a pilot tokenization service for certain highly liquid assets.

What Is Mobile Privacy Law?

Mobile privacy law is a complex legal area involving consumers, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), cell phone service providers, and the government. Since cell phone service providers have access to phone records, they are required to keep this information private in most cases, though federal agencies can access device records with a subpoena. Phone providers can only share mobile tracking location information to third parties for 911 emergency calls, unless device owners have consented to sharing this data. Consumers must contact their mobile device service providers directly to determine how their information is shared. These providers commonly offer mobile privacy policies and allow their customers to opt out of sharing their data. What Is Privacy Compliance Law?

The area of privacy compliance law addresses how organizations meet legal and regulatory requirements for collecting, processing, or maintaining personal information. Data privacy breaches can lead to regulatory investigations and fines. When privacy is compromised, consumers or employees may respond with civil lawsuits. It is recommended, but not required by a federal law, that companies create and post privacy policies on websites and mobile apps. Once posted, companies must follow these policies or face scrutiny by the Federal Trade Commission.
