Terry is an experienced litigator with a practice focusing on complex commercial litigation, products liability litigation, and internal investigations and corporate compliance matters. Clients partnering with Terry benefit from a thoughtful and responsive attorney who tailors innovative litigation strategies to meet their unique needs. Terry brings energy, meticulous attention to detail, and accessibility, ensuring clients reach their desired results.

Terry has achieved positive results for clients in both state and federal courts, as well as in administrative hearings. Before joining Winston, Terry represented homeowners’ associations and advised clients on various issues, including matters related to construction and professional, product, and premises liability.

Since 2021, Terry has represented Southwest Mecklenburg County in the North Carolina House of Representatives. Terry serves on the Appropriations, Judiciary, Energy and Public Utilities, Insurance, and Regulatory Reform committees. In 2023 he was elected to serve as the House Minority Whip.

Terry’s contributions to the legal profession and the Charlotte community have garnered frequent recognition. In 2023, he received a Pro Bono Award from Safe Alliance's Legal Representation Program, followed by the Commitment to Justice Award in 2024 for his volunteer work as a domestic violence attorney. In 2023 Terry was also inducted into the Campbell University School of Law Hall of Fame. In 2019, the Charlotte Business Journal honored him as a Forty Under 40 recipient. Terry has also been featured in the North Carolina Rising Stars® lists in 2018, 2021, and 2022, and was recognized by Best Lawyers in America Ones to Watch in 2022, 2023 and 2024 in the area of Commercial Litigation. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Black Chamber of Commerce named him a 30 Under 30 Award winner in 2016, and in 2017, he was honored as the UNC Charlotte Outstanding Young Alumnus of the Year. Terry has previously served on the City of Charlotte Zoning Board of Adjustment and was the chair of the John S. Leary Association of Black Attorneys.

Terry enjoys giving back to his community and has a robust pro bono practice with Safe Alliance as a volunteer domestic violence attorney. Terry is a member of the Campbell University School of Law Board of Visitors, the Safe Alliance Board of Directors, The Steele Creek Community Place Board of Directors, and the North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities. Terry serves on the Ayscue Professionalism Award Committee for the Mecklenburg Bar Foundation. Terry is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
