A Winston & Strawn team including Partners Linda Coberly, Joe Motto, Conor Reidy, and Dan Webb was featured in the Litigator of the Week column by The Am Law Litigation Daily on April 14, 2023.

The Seventh Circuit this week upheld their win for Chicago Parking Meters LLC, an investment entity led by Morgan Stanley & Co., that entered a 75-year concession agreement with the city of Chicago to operate the city’s metered parking system for more than $1 billion nearly a decade and a half ago. The appellate court agreed that CPM was protected from the plaintiffs’ federal antitrust claims by the state action immunity doctrine. State Action Immunity “does not turn on whether…this was a good or a bad deal,” wrote Senior Circuit Judge Diane Wood. “All that matters is that it was one that was authorized by state law and that remains under the regulatory power of the City.”
