Winston & Strawn Sponsors Center on Wrongful Convictions Women’s Project Launch Event

Winston & Strawn sponsored an event at Northwestern University School of Law for the launch of The Center on Wrongful Convictions (CWC) Women's Project on November 29, 2012, in Chicago.

The launch featured exonerated women speaking about their experiences, a discussion of preliminary data concerning exonerated women, and details regarding the future role of the project. The CWC also honored Amy Rabinowitz Kaplan with the 2012 Jane Beber Abramson Award for her dedication to pursuing justice for the wrongfully convicted.

Winston & Strawn partner Kimball Anderson, who sits on the center's advisory board, was quoted in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin’s article, “Northwestern program to assist wrongfully convicted women,” on November 30, 2012 regarding the event. "There is a population of wrongfully convicted women who have not benefited from DNA science and have been basically overlooked by the whole innocence movement in the United States," he said. "Therefore, a need exists for a project that will focus on the needs of wrongfully convicted women."

Mr. Anderson and Winston & Strawn pro bono counsel Greg McConnell attended the event on behalf of the firm.
