Winston & Strawn Represents MNH in Majority Acquisition of Banque Française Mutualiste
September 19, 2014
Winston & Strawn served as counsel to Mutuelle Nationale Hospitalière (MNH) in its acquisition of a majority interest in Banque Française Mutualiste. This increase in interest will be carried out progressively by the end of 2015.
MNH, the first French mutual society in the health sector, is aimed at creating an innovative cooperation and development model in the health, welfare, insurance, banking and services sectors. Banque Française Mutualiste is the only bank in France with a capital fully held by mutual societies and is dedicated to officers of the public sector, distributing its banking offering via the Société Générale network. This acquisition of the control of a bank by a mutual society is a first in the mutual world.
The amount of the operation is confidential.
Winston assisted MNH throughout the complex operation in these highly regulated sectors. The multidisciplinary team was led by Paris-based partner Gilles Bigot and included Jérôme Herbet, for the regulatory aspects.
