Winston & Strawn Ranked Among “Busiest” Firms in Patent Litigation
October 11, 2010
Winston & Strawn’s patent litigation practice made significant gains in Corporate Counsel’s 2010 Patent Litigation Survey, which ranked the firm among the “busiest” law firms for the number of overall patent cases litigated. This widely followed study of the most frequently hired patent litigation firms in the country placed Winston & Strawn at #13 out of 38 law firms in terms of patent litigation cases handled for both plaintiffs and defendants. For the 2010 ranking period, Winston & Strawn litigated 37 such cases, according to the survey. In the same survey in 2009, Winston’s patent litigation practice ranked overall at #20. Winston & Strawn also advanced in 2010 regarding patent litigation handled for defendants, ranking at #10, compared with #18 in 2009.
The rankings illustrate the patent litigation team’s extensive experience before the trial bar and the Federal Circuit, a proven ability to quickly master a range of complex technologies, and a command of the intellectual property disciplines. The recognition comes on the heels of the American Lawyer’s naming Winston’s IP group as one of four “finalists” in its biennial IP Litigation Department of the Year survey.
