Antitrust/Competition

Global Competition Review has recognized Winston & Strawn’s Antitrust/Competition Practice as “highly recommended“ in New York, Illinois, and California in the eighteenth edition of the GCR 100, a comprehensive listing of top competition practices that provides a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the law firms and economic consultancies doing the most important antitrust work around the world.

The publication notes that Winston’s New York Antitrust team “plays on both sides of the courtroom, as is seen in [Jeffrey] Kessler’s endeavours at the intersection of sports and antitrust – many lawyers say he is one of the best in the world in that field.”

GCR praises Winston’s Illinois Antitrust team, led by James Herbison, for its “robust healthcare portfolio,” “massive bench of antitrust lawyers to tackle its docket,” and delivery to the FTC of “a stunning defeat at trial – one of a few FTC losses in a hospital merger challenge in several years.”

Finally, GCR highlights Winston’s California Antitrust team as the third pillar of the firm’s disputes-focused practice. The practice “spends its time in and out of the courtroom for a variety of clients – including Solyndra, NEC and Cisco Systems – on both the plaintiffs’ and defendants’ side.”
