Winston & Strawn sponsored the New York State Bar Association International Section’s Seasonal Meeting 2016 in Paris. 

New York Office Managing Partner Michael Elkin was a panelist on “Challenging IP: Fashion Design Protection and Appropriation Art in the U.S. and EU.” This session compared and contrasted the approaches taken in the U.S., France, and Europe to the protection of copyright for fashion design, including the extent to which artists can create “appropriation art” based on the prior work of others.
