For the seventh consecutive year Winston & Strawn was recognized by the World Trademark Review (WTR) in WTR 1000 – The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals. WTR is an independent publication that lists the world's leading trademark practices and practitioners. Winston was ranked at the national level, as well as regionally in Illinois, New York, and California.

Ronald Rothstein is recognized in the Illinois region for his heavy-duty trademark and false advertising disputes, and recently secured settlement for Worldwide Diamond Trademarks in a multi-layered trademark, trade dress, design, and patent suit.

In New York, WTR states “Winston & Strawn can cover any trademark issue globally, but its real talent lies in the contentious sphere.” Managing partner of the New York office, Michael Elkin, is “thoroughly knowledgeable and very conversant in complex IP matters” and has an “uncanny way of communicating in a clear and persuasive manner with adversaries, arbitration tribunals, the courts, and most importantly clients.”

Noted for the firm’s international reach and deep trademark bench, WTR says “Winston professionals respond to changing local market conditions with lightning speed.” The “distinguished” Jennifer Golinveaux provides “thorough and concise foreign counsel” with “strong instincts in trademark enforcement matters, especially in California’s federal courts.” Becky Troutman is “responsive to inquiries and proactive in anticipating the needs of clients.” Ms. Troutman is also noted as a transactional ace, who is attuned to the needs of businesses at the intersection of intellectual property and licenses, distribution agreements, mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic dealings.
