Winston’s Expanding Talent Management Team Featured in The American Lawyer

Winston’s growing Talent Department was spotlighted in The American Lawyer in an article titled “Winston & Strawn Welcomes New Talent Management Team,” published on September 21.

Director of Coaching Diane Costigan and Director of Diversity & Inclusion Sylvia James discussed their plans to develop a comprehensive talent strategy and structure for the firm’s attorneys and staff.

Diane’s arrival coincides with a large number of individual lateral and group additions to Winston, making the initial focus of her work coaching lawyers through their transitions. She predicts that her joining the firm as an in-house coach is prologue to many other Am Law 100 firms following suit, noting that “[i]t gives you the ability to give everyone access to coaching in some way, shape, or form. Such moves allow law firms to be nimble in their approach and cut down on the time that outside consultants would take in learning a specific firm’s culture and its personnel.”

Part of Sylvia’s efforts, the article mentions, will “be focused on developing strategies to tackle the ever-perplexing diversity pipeline issue that many large law firms face today.”
