Winston Receives M&A Deal of the Year from The M&A Advisor

The sale of Orthoplastics Ltd. to MedPlast, Inc. was named “Corporate/Strategic Acquisition of the Year (over $75mm to $100mm)” at The M&A Advisor’s 6th Annual International M&A Awards. Winston & Strawn partners Eleni Kouimelis and Nicholas Usher, along with a team of associates, served as counsel to MedPlast.

MedPlast, a leading provider of custom plastic processing solutions, accelerated its growth into the medical device market through its acquisition of U.K.-based Orthoplastics, a leading manufacturer of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) products serving the orthopedic device implant market. Orthoplastics not only supplies UHMWPE material, but also produces implantable orthopedic components to customer specifications. Through this deal, Orthoplastics gains production capacity for components while MedPlast is able to expand its footprint in Europe for medical applications. 

The 6th Annual International M&A Awards recognized the leading deal teams, firms and dealmakers whose activities set the standard for cross-border transactions. The nominations for the awards, representing over 300 participating regional, national, and global companies, were judged by an independent jury of industry experts.
