Winston Private Equity Team Celebrates Successful Outcome for Pro Bono Client through NYC Name Change Project

On February 6, Winston & Strawn Private Equity Attorney Bryan Goldstein successfully represented a transgender man in a name change proceeding at the Civil Court of New York. “In our day job as corporate transactional lawyers we do not have a real opportunity to make a positive impact directly on peoples’ lives,” Bryan said, who added that working with Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund (TLDEF) gives us that opportunity in a meaningful way, and it was great to see how overjoyed our client was to receive his name change order. “To be able to make a positive, tangible impact in the community is really special, and we were thrilled to achieve a positive outcome for our client,” the team explained, who noted that this was the first, but certainly not the last successful name change that the firm achieved since pairing with TLDEF in late 2018.

Winston’s New York office is currently representing over 10 clients referred by TLDEF. The NYC Name Change Project, with the help of dedicated volunteers from Winston, has been a complete success and we look forward to many more positive outcomes for the clients we are serving.
