Winston & Strawn was named by Working Mother magazine as one of the 2017 Best Law Firms for Women in recognition of using best practices in retaining and promoting women lawyers.

The annual list, now in its tenth year, recognizes 50 U.S. law firms for their commitment to creating women-friendly workplaces through policies that support work-life balance as well as the advancement, retention, and promotion of women.

This remarkable recognition results from Winston’s significant investment in its Women’s Leadership Initiative, Sponsorship Initiative, and gender-neutral Parental Leave Program, among other industry-leading efforts.

The award is added to a string of "firsts" for the firm in 2017 that includes being named “Outstanding Firm in Advancing Gender Diversity and Inclusion” by Chambers USA and receiving the inaugural “Flex Impact Award” from the Diversity & Flexibility Alliance.

To qualify for this honor, law firms completed an extensive application using 2016 data in the areas of workforce profile, flexibility, and development and retention of women. For the first time in aggregating the list, Working Mother collaborated with the ABA Journal as a knowledge partner; the ABA Journal’s companion feature will appear in October.

Working Mother will recognize Winston and the other 2017 honorees at a special awards luncheon on October 4 in Chicago.
