Reed Stephens Discusses COVID-19 Vaccination Response Preparedness

As the U.S. FDA advisory committee meets to discuss the merits and risks of the application of emergency use of the COVID-19 vaccine, Winston & Strawn Partner Reed Stephens spoke with Biopharma-Reporter to help gauge the current level of preparedness in the U.S. for a vaccination response.
There is a staggering amount of public and private coordination required for COVID-19 vaccination, especially in a country the size of the U.S., that could potentially require wartime levels of cooperation and logistics. According to Reed, a high level of collaboration has already emerged.
“The response is definitely progressing in the right direction but there are some areas where more work needs to be done, which is not surprising given how the situation is continually evolving. It is not as simple as people getting one shot because the first two vaccines that appear to be lined up for emergency use authorization (EUA) require two doses and there is some time in between each dose,” he said.
