Winston Included in Financial Times Europe Innovative Lawyers Awards 2018

Winston & Strawn is recognized in the Financial Times Europe Innovative Lawyers Awards 2018. The firm is “Commended” for the Yioula Glassworks S.A. sale of its glass container business to BA Vidro S.A. in the “Legal Expertise/Managing Complexity and Scale” category (registration required).

The Financial Times notes how Winston facilitated a complex cross-border group reorganization and bond repayment against the backdrop of difficult economic conditions in Greece. The transaction enabled Yioula to complete the sale of its glass container business across seven jurisdictions using a complex “locked-box” mechanism. It also enabled the family owners of the client to retain ownership of geographical portions and industry aspects of the business within the family. The London- and New York-based team included David Sakowitz and Daniela Cohen.

This is the second noted recognition for the Yioula transaction. It was also shortlisted in the IFLR 2018 European Awards as an M&A Deal of the Year finalist.
